Travel with us as we take you on a fascinating trip into the heart of the Pilbara, experience the magnificent West Australian Coral Coast and then enter onto the tracks of the remarkable Len Beadell.
Starting at Boulia, we join the Plenty Highway to journey into Alice Springs and on to the breathtaking Glen Helen Gorge before embarking on the first of our Beadell tracks, the Gary Junction Road.
Once on the Garry Junction Road we get two days to try and imagine what Len faced building this road before crossing the famous Canning Stock Route at Well 33. From here we travel to Marble Bar via the Telford Mine and then to the mining town of Newman.
Leaving Newman, it’s onto the spectacular Gorges of the Karijini National Park set in the heart of the Pilbara.
After passing through the mining towns of Tom Price and Paraburdoo we then travel to the stunning West Australian Coral Coast, with our first stop at Exmouth. If we are not too late in the season we may have the amazing opportunity of swimming with the huge Whale Sharks. Leaving Exmouth, we travel down the coast, exploring the beautiful Ningaloo Marine Park and countryside all the way to Carnarvon. On our rest day in Carnarvon, we take a journey out to see this rugged coast line and the spectacular blow holes.
With our departure from the West Coast, we begin our homeward trip. Our first stop is Mount Augustus, the worlds largest rocky outcrop, and over twice the size of Uluru. After exploring the many features of Mount Augustus we will travel to Carnegie where we once again enter the Len Beadell story and drive the Gunbarrel Highway, the Connie Sue and Anne Beadell Highways.
From the Anne Beadell Highway we will join up with the Tallaringa Track and make our way to Coober Pedy.
After leaving Coober Pedy we will then travel up to Innaminka then onto St George where sadly our tour must end.
Our Pilbara & Len Beadell Tour runs June 29th to July 26th 2009.
