Looking for away to escape the city for New Year?
Then why not join us as we travel through parts of central Queensland and explore the Gorges of Kroombit Tops and Blackdown Tablelands.
As some people cannot get a lot of time off over the New Year period you can choose a 5 or 6 day package tour. We start our journey from the little town of Kilcoy, 95 kilometres north –west of Brisbane. After making our introductions to each other, we will then take the scenic Brisbane Valley Road, following it all the way to Manumbar where we join onto the National Horse trail taking us into Kilkivan. This is a very interesting track with lots of surprises for the 4wd drivers of the group. After our exciting day driving, we get to set up camp just outside Kilkivan and then check out the town and meet some of the locals.
Day two we leave Kilkivan and make our way towards Mt. Perry where once again we meet up with the horse trail. After a stop-off for a look at the famous Boolbunda Tunnel, we will journey to our next camp at Cania Gorge on the picturesque Cania Lake. New Years’ Eve we prepare to say good-bye to 2006 and start the next part of our adventure travelling from Cania Gorge to the National Park at Kroombit Tops. We will be setting up camp here for the next two nights.

On day four (maybe a late start to the day after our New Year celebrations), we will explore the National Park and the plane wreck of the “Beautiful Betsy” that crashed in 1945. Completing our two nights stop at Kroombit Tops, day five sees us hit the road again as we make our way to the lovely Blackdown Tablelands. For those of the group who wish to leave us once we reach Biloela we will say our good-byes and then start our journey over to Blacklands via Bauhinia and the Fitzroy Development Road. The Blackdown Tablelands is at the north-eastern edge of the central Queensland sandstone belt. The park has many gorges and waterfalls which add to the beauty of the park.
Day Six is the start of our homeward journey. We say good-bye to Blackdown, travel south where we will visit the little towns of Banana and Theodore before visiting the remote hotel at Cracow. From Cracow we will then continue onto Mundubbera where all too soon it will be time to say our farewells and head back home.
