This tour is designed to take in the sights of South West Queensland and Eastern South Australia as we visit the Simpson Desert, Strezlecki Desert, Gammon and the Flinders Ranges as well as the Innamincka Reserve.
Starting at Birdsville, we travel out to Big
Red, Poeppels Corner, join up with the French Track and then traverse the many
Sand Dunes to Purni Bore, before a much
awaited swim in the Springs of Dalhousie.
Refreshed, we head down to Oodnadatta visiting many of the Old Ghan railways
sights along the way and over to our next stop at Arckaringa in the Painted
Desert.
Leaving the awesome colors of the desert, we continue into the Opal Mining area of Coober Pedy via the picturesque Breakaways and the historical Dog Fence.
From Coober Pedy to our next
stop of the tiny town of William Creek introduces the tour to the Lake Eyre
region and the start of the “Kidman” story. Imagine the challenges our early
settlers met to establish themselves in this region. From William Creek we
travel to Marree, Coward Springs and Lyndhurst before making our way down to
the famous Wilpena Pound, in the southern section of the Flinders Ranges.
Leaving the scenic Wilpena Pound, we start the next leg of the tour and visit the mining area of Blimman. While in these areas we will endeavour to do as many of the 4wd tracks as possible, seeing gorges, mines and picturesque creeks and rivers.
From Blimman our next stop over will be at Arkaroola to take in the breath-taking sites of the Northern Flinders Ranges,
On our last days we travel up to Cameron’s Corner, onto Innamincka before making our last stops at Thyangra and St. George, where sadly our tour must end.
