NEW YEAR TOUR 2006.

What a place to start! The Daintree begins our 22 day tour into one of Australia’s most sought after 4wd destinations.

We kick off this tour in the Bloomfield Range, where we visit the Bloomfield River, the breathtaking Bloomfield Falls and Roaring Meg falls, reaching the Lions Den for our first nights camp. On the way to Cooktown, the town that made history when Capt. James cook landed in 1770, you view Anna Falls and Black  Mountain. Our second night under the stars is Glenrock Station after a beach visit to Cape Flattery.

Next day takes us along the Battle Camp Road, through Lakefield National Park to Musgrave, and onto camp at Merluna Station. Then it’s up to the Development Road to Weipa for our first rest day where you can fish, take in a mine tour or just chill out for the day.

From Weipa, we journey to the tip of Cape York. On this 4 day leg of our tour we visit Bertiehaugh Station, drive the bottom section of the old Telegraph Track, staying at the Dalhunty River, swim at Twin & Elliot Falls before continuing onto the top section of the Telegraph Track and Vrilya Point. From Vrilya we cross the Jardine River and onto Loyalty Beach for 3 nights. Our arrival at Sesia will be early morning so after we are settled, we take a short trip to the tip of Cape York, and the old Jardine sites at Somerset. The next 2 days you can visit Thursday and Horn Islands or take one of the many fishing trips on offer.

On our return journey we visit Fruit Bat Falls and Captains Billie’s, stay at Bramwell Station and Coen before making our way out to Port Stewart. Then it’s over to Jowalbinna and the Palmer Gold Fields, exploring the  Palmer Valley and Maytown before heading south to the Mitchell River. We finish off  traveling to Mt Mulligan and Tryconnell Gold Mine and unfortunately the conclusion of our Cape York Adventure.
