Travel with us as we take you on a fascinating trip across the heart of Australia. You will travel the central deserts, see the Pilbra and experience the magnificent Central West Australian Coast.
Starting
at Winton, we spend our first days traveling to Boulia, where we join the Plenty
Highway, continue onto Arltunga and head to Alice Springs. After a short break
in the Alice, we travel out to the breathtaking Glen Helen Gorge to a typical
night camp.
On the next section, we drive one of the roads made famous by Len Beadell, the Garry Junction Road. We get two days to try and imagine what Len faced building this road before joining the famous Canning Stock Route at Well 33. Once again as we travel to Well 23, you get a glimpse of the courage and strength of the pioneers of this district. The journey continues along the Talawana Track to the mining town of Newman, then onto the spectacular Gorges of the Karijini National Park set in the heart of The Pilbra.
Next, it is over to the stunning West Australian Coast, with our first stop being Exmouth. Here we have the amazing opportunity of swimming with the huge Whale Sharks. Leaving Exmouth, we travel down the coast, exploring the beautiful Ningaloo Marine Park and countryside all the way to Carnarvon. On our rest day in Carnarvon, we take a journey out to see this rugged coast line and the spectacular blow holes. Leaving the west coast we begin our homeward trip with our first stop at Mount Augustus, the worlds largest rocky outcrop, and over twice the size of Uluru.
After exploring the many features of Mount Augustus we head back to a new
section of the Canning Stock Route, passing through Mount Gould, Meekatharra and
Wiluna on our way to Well 9. We travel to Carnegie where we once again enter
into Len Beadell country and drive the Gunbarrel Highway on our way to Uluru.
During our last week of the tour we travel to Chambers Pillar crossing both the
new and old Ghan railways, visit the Lamberts Centre and travel down to Mount
Dare and Dalhousie Springs. We get to swim in the warm waters of the springs
before commencing our journey into the Simpson Dessert. Birdsville is our
destination via the Rig Road, joining up with the K1 Line, to Poeppels Corner
and then onto Big Red. The final leg of our across Australia trip is via Walkers
Crossing, Innamincka and Thyangra on the Bulloo River.
